P1/2/3 06.09.12
This week we have been learning more about hedgehogs. We made lovely leaflets about Autumn.
P.1 are doing numbers to 10 and they are very good at them. P.1 were learning the sounds for t and p, they learned s and a last week.
P.2/3 have been working on numbers to 100 and numbers to 1000. Some of the P.3 work has been very tricky, adding on 10 and adding on 100 to all sorts of numbers!
We made beautiful nests for hedgehogs out of shoeboxes, they look so cosy. We haven’t made the hedgehogs yet, it’s a bit early for them to hibernate.
P6/7
We began to write some super endings to our our horror story - using, VCOP!
We're getting faster at our tables with the games we play against each other.
We had a VERY tiring swimming session last week, so we will be getting very fit indeed!
In science, we worked out what mediums sound can travel through - gasses, liquids and solids
- and we pretended to be molecules that the sound waves had to vibrate.
We are beginning to bring in some marvellous artefacts, stories and toys related to WWII - it's fab, keep it up. The classroom will look like it comes from 70 years ago very soon!
P3/4/5
This week we have been busy creating a Titanic freize in our classroom. We have created the ship arriving in Queenstown Ireland. The children have even represented some of the real houses from the town.
We have been working hard on our editing skills and have edited and rewriten our Newspaper reports of the Titanic leaving Southhampton. The children have worked really hard with some excellent results.
We have also been continuing to work hard on our place value. We have been adding 10, 100 and 1000.
Nursery
The Nursery children have had fun this week exploring and being creative with shapes. The party theme is continuing and the children have designed their own invitations and cards. A party in space has been suggested and the children are in the process of making a rocket ship to take them into space where they want to boggie with music and pretend they are floating. We have also had our 1st visit to the Gym hall with lots of energic games and an obstacle course to tackle.
The Nursery also won 2nd and 3rd place at the Invergarry produce show with paper plate masks they had made.
We shall be officially thanking BAM NUTTAL for the new fence on Monday morning, where we will be getting our photo taken for the paper.
Any other people who are willing to help with the Country Dance catering please please get in touch. We still need raffle prizes.
