Week 2 !

Sorry for the lateness of the Blog this week, I was way laid on Friday.

We had a super week last week and the whole school is beginning to settle down to a routine again.  We have all been focusing hard on the improvement to our language work, in particular writing.  All the classes last week have been working on the BIG writing system.  We have been assessing where the children are at and deciding how we are going to tailor our teaching to meet their needs.

P123 wrote letters about their holidays, as did P67 and P45 wrote a diary entry pretending they were about to board the Titanic the next day.

All classes have also been issuing reading books to all the pupils.  P1 have talking about reading books and are learning about the Oxford reading tree characters of Biff and Chip. Please can we all make a big effort to look after the reading books which go home, we many have to charge if books are lost as we need everyone of the reading books for the children.

We are all beginning to use the new Maths scheme, and this is proving very popular with the children.

P123 have been adding and taking away, P345 and P67 have been learning about place value and whole numbers.

P67 went swimming and really had fun, Mrs Campbell has begun to train the children for the Cross Country Race later this term.  We have many pupils from P4567 who took part in the initial training I hope they continue to want to take part!

Best Wishes
