YESSSSS!! It's the holidays!

Thank you so much to everyone who attended the school church service day.  It was so lovely to see everyone there.

It is with great sadness that we are saying good bye to Mrs Pagetar but wish her a very happy retirement.  I would also like to wish Beth Law good luck as she moves to Hilton Primary school.  I am sure that she will be very happy there.

Thank you to Mrs Everett for presenting the prizes.

For those of you who perhaps could not attend the service please find below the list of our prize winners.

I am however, very very proud of all the staff and children in this school and am very privelaged to be your Head Teacher.

I wish you all a safe and happy holiday and look forward to the fun and games of next year.

Kindest regards

Summer is coming closer

Another busy week has passed, but post Hmie we are beginning to see the light of the holidays.

P123 and the Nursery had their final den building session this week with the ranger and we now have a lovely den covered with foliage and branches in the Nursery Garden.

P45 have loved designing trainers, there has been some really super designs made, we have a creative bunch of pupils in that class.  Next week we will begin work on some paper trainers and an advertising campaign.

P67 have been getting ready for the K factor and the end of term memories of P7.

A school newsletter should be out in children's school bags this afternoon and the web edition should appear after the weekend.

Next week P45 and P67 are going on a trip to Auchterawe to do some work in the forest with the ranger, I am sure that that will be fun.

P67 are travelling to Landmark on Thursday as a reward for good behaviour this term.

P123 are performing a concert to Mrs Walker.

So lots to look forward to, I hope that many of you will attend the school prize giving on Friday at 10.00am at the Church of Scotland.  We have many prizes to be given out and a number of presentations, so we would love you to join us in our celebrations.

If you wish your child to have a canteen lunch on Friday please tell Mrs Curly by Wednesday morning.  The school bus will leave school at 12.40 on Friday.  Pupils can leave school after the church service if their parents are in attendance and happy for them to do so.  If not they will be dismissed from school at 12.00.
Bus pupils will wait in bus class until 12.40.

So the count down begins! yipppppppppppppppppeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

All the very best wishes

Well Done to all the staff and pupils at Kilchuimen

I am so proud of our wee school.  Well done to all the staff, pupils and parents who have worked with the inspectors so well.  It has been in the words of Karen, "terrifying and fantastic".  I know that I have learned a lot from the inspectors and I thank them for that.  I am pleased that the inspectors have acknowledged the long journey which we have been travelling the last few years and the changes which have taken place.  They found a warm and welcoming school, which is as it should be.

The letters to the parents from the inspectors will be published on the 21st August.

I am confident that as a staff will now move forward and continue to ensure that Kilchuimen Primary can be the very best it can be for the fantastic pupils in our care.

Best wishes and thanks for your support

Torch Gala Day Fun

Thank you to everyone who made Saturday such a success.  We had a brilliant day and the weather was even kind to us.

The children loved the fire engine, even some of the staff had a go on the bouncy castle.  We certainly have some budding archers and the walking on water balls looked like a huge amount of fun.  The baking stall was as popular as ever.  Shona and Amanda kept us well fed with really tasty hotdogs.  The raffle was great, thank you to those who donated prizes.  The tattoos, face painting and painted nails ensured that we looked in the mood for a party when the Olympic torch passed through the village.

Photos to follow having technical difficulties!!

Gala day

We are holding our Gala Day on Saturday 9th June at 1.00 - 3.30pm, we hope as many of you will be able to attend, there will be archery, Walking on Water balls, a bouncy castle, face painting, hot dogs, a lucky dip and raffle and baking stall. We look forward to seeing as many of you there as possible. We will be all tidied away for the arrival of the Olympic torche into the village at 4.16pm.

The P6/7 class this week have been working on our ICT creating tables in the Publisher programme using the Olympics as our topic. We have been learning about algebra in maths. We have been reading about Charles Darwin. Writing Healthy recipes in writing.

Next week P7 will be taking part in the Fairburn trip as part of their transition to S1.

P4/5 have enjoyed working with Miss Peters this week, Miss Peters is an Australian teacher currently on a working holiday. She has told us that she loves working at Kilchuimen and the children love her, the children were learning how to shade using a selection of lolly pop sticks.

P4/5 were busy learning about the Olympics with Ms Scollay and took part in a Sports maths day on Thursday.

P123 have been busy this week as well and Mrs Walker has a new and novel way of teaching the children how to spell which means lots of out the seats for them!  The children are also becoming really good at speaking in French, Mrs Walker will make another trip to France next week, to learn more about teaching french!  (Well the children think it's France, unfortunately for Mrs Walker it is Dingwall!!)

P123 also enjoyed a great singing session with the Music Man, John from the Kodaly singing team.

The Nursery were delighted to welcome Ruby's Dad and Grandad to help in the garden this week and the plants have begun to grow.

The Nursery also watched as their butterflies came out of their cocoons, and they had become the most beautiful painted lady butterflies.

We all enjoyed a super sports day organised by Mrs Campbell which was just brilliant, it was great to see everyone trying their best.

Even the mums and dads were delighted to win a rosette.

Next week we are being visited by Education Scotland and will be inspected.  We are looking forward to their advice and support.  The team will be here from Monday lunch time until end of Thursday.

Parents Evening is on Monday afternoon and evening, this is an appointment only night, if the times given were not suitable please contact the school to arrange a different time.

Kindest regards

Hello everyone!

I am delighted to say, a HUGE, "Hello" to you all once more. I am really pleased to be back at work here in Kilchuimen Primary. I also have to say, many thanks to Mr Morrison for all his hard work over the course of the year. The children and staff have enjoyed working him, and I have heard many lovely reports. This is a bust term, and we really hope that the recent good weather will be kind to us. On Wednesday we have a Jubilee picnic at lunch time. Mrs Curly has been cooking up a storm. We are all going to wear our beautiful crowns during the lunch. On Thursday are going to have our sports day, this is weather permitting. I hope that we don't get the weather which is on the forecast. Please call the school hotline to find out if the event is on if you are in any doubt. We look forward to seeing you there. The Olympic Torch is passing through the village on Saturday 9th June. The school is having a fete from 1.00 - 3.30pm we are looking for helpers, baking and bottle and raffle prizes. On Monday 11th June we are going to be visited by Education Scotland, we look forward to their help and advice. With the end of term approaching we will be saying a very sad, "goodbye" to Mrs Pargetar. She has worked in the school for many years and is a valuable member of our team, we are going to be very sorry to loose her as she retires. Should you like to put a small donation to her presentation please leave any donations at the school office. On 29th June we will be having our usual prize giving service in the church at 10.00 More details to follow. In the mean time, thank you for making me feel so welcome back.
